Cynthia and her husband Peter were raised in Laguna Beach, California, but moved to Atascadero in 1976 to raise their family. Cynthia is the mother of five children and now has nine grandchildren. After thirty years, her husband Peter retired from the Atascadero Fire Department in 2006. Cynthia earned her Ph.D. from The University of Wales, and began her teaching career at Cal Poly. She also served as an English professor at Cuesta College, Appalachian State University, and William Jessup University. For her discernment process and after seminary and ordination, she served at Incarnation Anglican Church in Roseville, California. When asked her favorite theologians, Pastor Cynthia replied, “Of course I appreciate our great Anglicans, like Thomas Cranmer, George Herbert, J.I. Packer, John Stott, C.S. Lewis, and N.T. Wright, but I love Presbyterians like Timothy Keller and Francis Schaeffer, Lutherans like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Reformed Baptists like Roger Nicole, Eastern Orthodox like Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Catholics like St. Augustine and Henri Nouwen. Resurrection will be a profoundly ecumenical sort of church."
